Privacy policy

In short: we keep the minimum, sell nothing, delete on request. This document explains what actually happens with your data on RentMe.

We do not sell

No ad networks and no data brokers. Ever.

Minimum

Only what is needed for bookings and support.

Deletion

Delete your account and data with one click in settings.

1. Who is the data controller

RentMe OÜ, registered in Estonia (full details on the imprint). Data contact: info@rentme.rent.

2. What data we collect

Profile: name, email, phone, avatar, country. Required to make bookings.
Listings: title, description, photos, price, location, availability calendar.
Payments: fact of payment, amount, currency. Card details live only with the payment provider (Stripe / Maksekeskus) — we never see or store them.
Messages: chat threads between hosts and renters. Used for moderation and support.
Technical: IP, user-agent, visit time. Used only for security (anti-fraud, rate limits) and anonymous analytics.

3. Why we use it (legal basis)

Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — handling bookings, commission, transaction support.
Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — account security, anti-fraud, basic analytics.
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — marketing emails (you can disable them in one click in settings).
Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — tax records, AML checks.

4. Who we share data with

Payment providers (Stripe, Maksekeskus) — only transaction details.
Cloud hosting (servers and backups) — all located in the EU.
Tax authorities — on request.
Other users — only what you yourself published in a public profile or listing.

We never share data with ad networks, scoring systems or data brokers.

5. How long we keep it

Active account — while you are using it.
After deletion — 30 days soft-delete (in case you want to restore), then full removal.
Financial records (per Estonian tax law) — 7 years from the transaction.
Security logs — 90 days.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

You can request: access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, withdrawal of consent. Most actions are available directly in /account/settings. Full list in GDPR.

7. Cookies

Details in What we store in your browser. In short: session cookies for sign-in and language, optionally — anonymous analytics.

8. Children

The service is for users 18+. We knowingly do not collect data from minors.

9. Complaints

If you think we mishandled something — write to info@rentme.rent. You also have the right to file a complaint with the local supervisory authority (in Estonia — Andmekaitse Inspektsioon).
